Maybelline ClearGlow All in One Compact Review

Hello all,

How you doing? I’m enjoying writing post for you all. I have so many products lined up for review that I’m confused which review should I do first. I have decided that first I’ll cover 1 product each category 🙂 as it makes the decision job a bit easier.

Since summer are here so sweat and oil on face is a problem for majority girls (except for the dry skinned beauties…wish I had dry skin too 🙁 ), so carrying a nice compact in bag is a must for summers which provides coverage, matte effect, effective oil control and if sun protection, even better 🙂 (We want it all, don’t we? :P)

So in my search for the compact and my increasing love for MaybellineI’ve recently purchased “Maybelline ClearGlow All in One Compact”.

Price:

175/-  for 9gm (Amazing!!!, isn’t it?).

My take on Maybelline ClearGlow All in One Compact:

When I was looking for the compact I went to my current  favourite Maybelline counter 🙂 and asked for compact with SPF, SA showed me this beautiful packaged baby and swatch it on my hand. I was pleased with the feel and matte effect if this and when I asked the price, I was really shocked when she told me 175/- and I quickly checked for reviews and I found one which said it’s a good buy, so I decided to buy this as at 175/- bucks it doesn’t hurt to give it a try :P. Maybelline always manages to keep their stacks of pretty decent product at fair charge, that’s why I love them :). This compact is definitely good value for money.

Packaging:

The packaging of the Maybelline ClearGlow All in One Compact is very neat and cute girly pink. It’s a light but sturdy semi-transparent plastic casing and comes with a built-in mirror (yayyyee), compact pan and sponge applicator. The sponge is fine, gentle and feels smooth on skin. From inside, the box is divided in 2 square shaped areas out of which one is square-shaped compact pan and there is a separate slot with net textured holes which holds the sponge. The packaging is very sleek which makes it apt for travelling or carrying it around in your bag for touch ups.

Shade:

I have shade 03 Natural which is just my skin tone. I prefer shades just matching my skin tone or one shade darker for daily use as I don’t wear full makeup daily and powders tend to give whitish cast so choosing a shade lighter than your skin tone in powders might not be a wise decision. Though you can choose foundation/BB cream one shade lighter than your skin tone.

Texture & coverage:

Maybelline ClearGlow All in One Compact glides like a dream and gives instant mattifying effect to skin also adds radiance to skin with medium coverage. I wear it over my normal moisturizer and sunscreen or sometimes with BB cream, but if you have dark spots and blemishes you might want to use concealer underneath for full coverage.

SA told me it is a cream to powder Compact that means it can be used wet and dry both ways. I haven’t tried it in wet form but the sponge provided with this compact would be helpful when using in wet form.

Performance:
Maybelline Clear Glow All In One Fairness Compact gives instant fairness/radiance and adds matte effect to skin but it is not very good at oil control. Given my combination skin my T-zone starts to get oily only after 3 hours of application, so I need to reapply it after that (which I don’t mind).

Maybelline Clear Glow All In One Fairness Compact comes with a broad or full spectrum protection of SPF 26 PA+++ which means its gives total protection against UVA and UVB rays up to an hour in the sun.

Overall it is a good quality product at this price.

Pros:

  • Glides like a dream on skin.
  • Provides instant fairness/radiance (Instant fairness claim is true).
  • Evens out complexion.
  • Gives medium coverage.
  • Apt for oily-combination skin.
  • Has SPF 26+++ (Sun Protection claim is true).
  • Did not break out or irritated my sensitive skin.
  • Attractive packaging.
  • Easily available.
  • When used with foundation, provides perfect matte look with full coverage.
  • Travel friendly packaging.
  • Fairly priced (College going girls gonna love it).

Cons:

  • Shade selection is very limited for darker skin tones. Most colors are for fair-medium skin tones.
  • Oil control stays for max 3 hours.

Rating:

4.5/5 (-ve for oil control for very less time, and limited shade options).

Will I repurchase it?

Yes definitely, it’s a decently priced good quality product. And it has shade which blends perfectly with my skin tone 🙂

Do I recommend it?

Yes girl, Go give Maybelline ClearGlow All in One Compact Review a try. Even if you don’t like it, it won’t make a hole in your pocket 😛

  1. Thank you so much Shreya :* I’m glad you liked it.. and compact is very nice, You are gonna like it 🙂

  2. Hi anu,
I have also tried this one. This compact powder is value for money. It gives a decent coverage too..where on one hand it is such a quality product for the price, i am quitr disappointed with the packaging. They had it in a round plate packaging earlier which i feel was more handy. Also the sponge starts tearing apart in some time

  3. Thank you Purva.. I agree with the sponge part..I have washed it 3-4 times only and it has started to tear into little holes here and there.. i agree that round packaging is more handy but i like this packaging for being more hygienic as the sponge is not sitting continuously on powder and infecting it 😛 (Silly i know :D)
