Maybelline Superstay Ink Crayon Stay Exceptional & Lead the Way : Review & Swatches

I love lipsticks and maybelline is one of my favorite drugstore brands when it comes to lipsticks. I have really liked the Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink Liquid Lipstick range except a few shades. So when Maybelline launched crayon in the superstay range, I decided to pick a few shades and give them a try. Are Maybelline Superstay Ink Crayons worth the hype? Let’s find out today as I’m reviewing 2 shades from the range : 25 Stay Exceptional & 15 Lead the Way.

My Experience about Maybelline Superstay Ink Crayon Stay Exceptional & Lead the Way:

In Netherlands there are only 8 shades launched. I did pick up 2 nude shades because those are the ones I get the most use out of. So Lets dive into details.

Packaging:

Maybelline SuperStay Ink Crayon comes in a color-coded retractable crayon packaging with a small sharpener attached for sharpening the tip. The shade name is mentioned on sticker at cap. Overall packaging is really nice and easy to spot if you have multiple shades.

I have 2 shades: 15 Lead The Way is more of warm pinky nude whereas 25 Stay Exceptional is pinky mauve.

Texture & Pigmentation:

The formula of Maybelline SuperStay Ink Crayons is very soft and glides easily on lips and does not tug on lips at all. It feel comfortable on lips. The pigmentation is medium and you need atleast 2-3 swipes for opaque application. I do apply, blot and layer it like my other bullet lipsticks. Even the light shades apply beautifully and evenly.

Performance:

Maybelline SuperStay Ink Crayon applies easily on lips and it takes about 2-3 mins for them to set. Once it is set there is almost no transfer except very faint lipline. It doesn’t transfer on cups. These do have a slight sheen even after these are set and not flat matte finish. It survives drinks and light meal however it will not survive oily meal and reapplication is a must then. It is easy to remove and reapply so this is something i really like. These stay for good 6-7 hours with slight fading. Light shades do not leave any stain behind while fading but darker shades do. These are easy to remove and do not stain lips.

Maybelline SuperStay Ink Crayons are good option if you do not enjoy dry matte lipsticks but still looking for longlasting lipstick. The quantity is very less for the price if you compare to other lipsticks from Maybelline. However I do enjoy the formula and like that it stays quite long time for about 6-7 hours once applied and does not transfer much unless you have oily meal. These are easy to apply and reapply and does not feel heavy or sticky at all. Light shades do not leave any stain behind while fading but darker shades do. I think I’ll be able to finish these as well 🙂
