Entering Motherhood With Grace

motherhood

Motherhood is always viewed as a life-changing stage, and indeed it is.

Before having my baby, there were a lot of thoughts that popped up into my mind when I heard the term ‘motherhood’. I viewed it as a stage of life where things would turn around and I would completely change myself for someone else, and to be honest, It did happen.

Entering motherhood, as challenging as it sounds, is the world’s most beautiful stage of life. Though it feels like everything is changing, you know deep down that it’s for the best. Moreover, these years will probably be the years you’ll remember for the rest of your life because these years are extremely selfless.

I remember entering this stage when I was pregnant. At first, the thought of understanding the baby seemed difficult, but now the sync just comes naturally. Over the course of time, you adjust according to the needs of the baby, and in this process, you might feel like having an identity loss. Do not worry, this is completely normal for new mothers.

These are a few things that helped me not fall into the identity crises pit after my little one was born, let me share these with you.

Relax Regularly

Childbirth leaves you exhausted, the tiredness and fatigue kicks in every day. Relaxing in such situations is a must since you need to function the entire day. On average, a baby initially wakes up every two hours, ensure that you relax for those hours. Save as much as you can!

Focus On Healthy Eating

Eating healthy is advised by doctors irrespective of the pregnancy. However, you must understand that your body is providing for two, hence, the body needs healthy foods like whole grains, protein, etc. The good food you eat will also make your fatigue go away to an extent. Remember healthy eating is the key!

Don’t Give Up Your Hobby

Resuming your office work might not be possible after your baby is born, only because of the fact that you might have a lot on your plate at that time. In such cases, you must carry on with your hobbies such as reading, listen to music, writing blogs, etc.

Let Your Partner Experience An Amount Of Motherhood

It is natural for you to feel exhausted and irritated while handling everything, don’t stress over it. Seek help from your partner and let him know what’s going on. Having someone by your side may help you feel calm and peaceful.

Practice Yoga Alongside Motherhood

If you can get up early and practice yoga for the rest of the days when you are at home, it will change your life. Yoga soothes your mind and makes you feel like a wind of fresh breeze crossed your face. These early morning sessions of yoga will make you feel like you are doing something out of your regular schedule.

A woman sacrifices a lot when she carries and gives birth to a baby, and it not limited to only physical sacrifice. Mental and physical changes in your body take place gradually, coping up with these changes can be challenging.

To all the new mothers, please take out time for relaxing and enjoying life. Enter motherhood with grace, don’t let it overwhelm you.
