Today I’m reviewing a product which was recommended by a hairstylist to me 2 years back. I have wavy to straight hair which are quite dense but my hair strands are thin. When my hair are longer because of hair weight they fall quite flat and need to have some volume at crown area whereas rest of my hair look volumenous enough. I went to a different hairstylist last time I was in India and he recommended TIGI Small talk for volume. I have had good experience with TIGI Bed Head resurreection shampoo conditioner duo so decided to give this product also a try. So let’s see how TIGI Bed Head Small Talk lives upto the expectation?

My Experience with TIGI Bed Head Small Talk:
I am blessed with naturally silky smooth wavy to straight hair and I like to leave my hair as is and air-dry most of the time. Also when I blow dry I like to use one and done products because multiple products make a layer on my hair and weight them down. I’m also ot a fan of stylying hold products on regular basis. TIGI Bed Head Small Talk claims to be thickifier, Energier and Stylizer which means it adds volume and lift and also provide light hold and support to hair. So let’s see if TIGI Bed Head small talk is suitable for someone like me or not.
Packaging:
TIGI small talk comes in a cute round opaque purple plastic bottle with yellow pump. The packaging is cute and also comes in travel size as well. Overall packaging is fine just that you can not see how much product is left.
Texture and Smell:
Small Talk looks like a white lotion and feels slightly sticky while applying. I apply it in towel-dried hair. The smell puts me off and I’m not a fan of it at all.
Performance:
When I leave my hair to air-dry after applying this, my hair dry with slight more volume and less frizzy. BUT my hair look very dull and mattified. And I can feel a layer on my hair when I run my fingers through it and my hair tangle more than they normally do.
When I blow-dry my hair after applying this, I do feel slightly more volume. I can still feel the layer on product on my hair and shine is almost non-existent and the mattified look is there. However I feel my blow dry looks cleaner and lasts longer.
Final Verdict: 3.5/5
TIGI Bed Head Small Talk works in adding slight volume and provides hold. BUT I do not like the mattifing dull effect and feel of layer of product that it adds to my hair. I do need to go with another serum to add shine. My main concern is to get volume in my crown area which is kind of not achievable with this since you are not supposed to use this on scalp or near roots. My hair tangles more and feel not so smooth when I have this on my hair. Overall the pros of the product are not good enough to make me ignore the cons. I would rather use a dry shampoo for volume in my crown area. However if you are someone who wants to add volume to limp hair and do not mind the feeling of layer of products on hair then I would recommend to try the smaller size first.
I do not like it and do not recommend it. I gave this too many chances and tried many ways to work with it but nothing worked and I’m stuck with half bottle of product left to go. And now I absolutely do not want to put this in my hair anymore. So yeah that is how I feel about this product.
