The Body Shop is my all time favorite for their bath & body products. And for past couple of years it has grown on me for it’s facial care products as well. Tea tree oil from The body shop has a permanent place in my vanity. I did try The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash a long time ago in 2011 and that time it irritated my skin as well as my brother’s skin. Since in India you get only 250ml bottle and that time we did not get samples as well so I had to finish using that as body wash. Then I have got to know that The body shop has not only repackaged but also reformulated it so i decided to give it another try. Here in Netherlands you get 60ml packaging as well, it sounded perfect for trying it out. So I have finished my 2nd 60ml bottle of The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash today and I’m ready to share my thoughts about it.

My Experience with The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash:
I have used The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Foaming Cleanser and it is one of my favorites from the brand. The product I’m reviewing today The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash is a gel facewash from the same range. I have finished 2, 60ml bottles of this facial wash. I used one in winters and second one I started using in spring-summer season to test it to full potential. Let’s see if it matched the performance of foaming cleanser or not.
Packaging:
TBS Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash comes in a dark green transparent bottle with screw open and flip-open 2-in-1 matte black cap. The packaging is sturdy and travel friendly.
Consistency & Smell:
TBS Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash is gel version of facewash and is green colored medium consistency slimy gel. It lathers moderately and washes off easily.
TBS Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash smells strongly of tea-tree oil however not as strong as some other products in market. But if you do not like tea-tree oil scent, you are not going to enjoy it. I personally enjoy the refreshing scent.
Performance:
Since TBS Tea Tree Facial Wash lathers moderately, it is quite easy to get carried away and use more than required. I would say very less quantity say about half a coin size is required to wash the face. This gets washed off easily without leaving any residue behind. It feels cooling and refreshing post wash. It also does not leave face stripped of moisture even in winters.
In night when I double cleanse, I use oil based makeup remover to remove my makeup, I feel i need to use the face wash twice or double the quantity to make sure It takes off all oil and grim from face. Still the 60ml bottle lasted me about 1.5-2 months using twice a day.
I have combination skin which is prone to dry patches in winters and oily patches in summers. In winters this facewash did not aggravate the dry patches and did not make my face feel extra dry. And in summer it removes oil and grim very nicely and keeps oil at bay without making skin dehydrated. TBS Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash does help with mild acne and help them get better sooner. This did not irritate my sensitive skin.
Final Verdict: 4.5/5
The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash is a good option if you are someone who enjoys gel facewash and suffer from mild acne time to time. It cleans skin effectively without drying it out and even helps with recovery of mild acne. The quantity required per usage is very less which makes the product quite cost effective and you can get it in sale quite often. I also enjoy the tea tree scent.
However it does contain SLS and alcohol denat, which can cause dryness sometimes however the glycerin as second ingredient is preventing it to great extent. But still my advice for super-dry skinned people is to give it a pass and try The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Foaming Cleanser instead.. For all other skintypes (even dry skin) I totally recommend it.
I would still purchase the smaller 60ml version time to time as this is perfect travel companion and that is the time I do suffer from small breakouts.
That is all about The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash. Have you used this? share your thoughts in comment section below.
