MAC Twig Lipstick (Satin) : Review & Swatches

I do love and wear bright and bold lipshades but I also enjoy 50 shades of nudes :D. So today lets talk about another cult favorite classic nude lipstick by MAC, MAC Twig. I have already reviewed MAC Mehr & MAC Velvet Teddy in case you want to check them out.

About MAC Twig:

Twig is a shade from satin finish range by MAC described as “Soft Muted Brownish Pink”. MAC Satin Lipstick gives a high color coverage in combination with minimal shine.

My Experience with MAC Twig:

Twig is a satin finish lipstick and as I mentioned an alternative to MAC Mehr if Mehr washes you out. So Let’s dive into details.

Packaging:

MAC Twig comes in a typical MAC shiny black bullet with very tiny golden shimmer print. The bullet is not color-coded. The outer carton comes color-coded in new packaging. The one I have is older one.

Shade:

MAC Twig is described as Soft Muted Browish Pink by MAC and it is exactly that. It is a very mix of pink and brown. It is neutral to slightly warm tones so it looks flattering on n number of skintones. If Mehr washes you out, try Twig.

Texture & Pigmentation:

Twig is satin finish which means creamy matte buttery formula has slight sheen to it. The formula glides on lips without tugging and pulling. It does not feel heavy upon layering however it has slightly heavier feel on lips as compared to MAC’s matte finish formula.

The Satin formula is known to be intensely pigmented with comfortable matte finish with little sheen which you can blot to give matte look. The pigmentation is opaque in single swipe. I usually blot and layer this lipstick.

Performance:

I usually blot and layer my lipsticks to ensure long wear time. On me MAC twig stays for good 4-5 hours with snacks and drinks in between. It does not survive a full meal. It does transfer on cups more than the matte ones. The formula is super comfortable to wear in all seasons. It does not dry out or flake-off or bleed during weartime. It does not accentuate or settle into liplines rather it looks comfortable and smooth on lips giving a healthy look.

For me MAC Twig is really impressive overall. I love the super comfortable creamy matte formula of MAC Satin range. Matte finish is my favorite from MAC and then comes satin finish. The shade is brownish pinky nude and perfect for everyday wear. The shade will suit a wide range of skin tones. If MAC Mehr washes you out then twig is perfect shade for you to try. I have the mini version and I am almost 2/3rd done with it and will repurchase once I finish it. However the shade is easily dupable.

MAC Mehr has more pink whereas Twig is more brown. If you are looking for a cheaper alternative then Maybelline Touch of spice is very close dupe of MAC Twig.
