My Expeience with Lakme Eyeshadow Quartet Desert Rose:
The one I have is older packaging. Lakme relaunched these in new packaging as part of 9 to 5 range but not sure if they reformulated the shadows also.
Packaging:
I know many of you find this packaging familiar, does it look similar to Charlotte Tilbury Quad’s? Well rest assured Lakme have this packaging since forever 😀 so yes they did not copy CT. Sponge applicator is practically useless.
Texture & Pigmentation:
The shadows are buttery to touch and pigmentation is really good except for the gold shade. All shades are easy to pick with fingers as well as brushes. The gold one is tough to pickup with brush.
I did face little pigmentation trouble with gold shade (2-3 swipes) other than that no issues regarding pigmentation, all shades swatch well in single swipe. (these are all single swipes).
How I use it:
All the shadows in the Lakme Eyeshadow Quartet Desert Rose have metallic finish. And as many people suggest, it is best to apply satin/metallics with finger and not brushes. I use these shadows for super quick everyday look for office as well as parties. This is how I like to use it- I use my fingers to apply these and then use an angled blending brush to blend the crease and use pencil brush to line my lower lash line. I use different combinations of all 4 shades and love the look I get every time.
Performance:
Lakme Eyeshadow Quartet Desert Rose performs good for 9 to 5. I do not use eye primer and i do not have super oily lids. In summer time i do experience creasing sometimes if I do not set my eyes with powder or have a heavy moisturizer underneath.
I have this with me for about 5 years now and the formula still feels same. I have even used gold shade as highlighter as well a few times.
Swatches:
Few Looks I have Created:
1. Pale pink eyeshadow all over lids, gold inner corner.
2. Pink and light bronze with gold in inner corner:
3. Pink and dark bronze with gold in inner corner:
Final Verdict: 4/5
Lakme Eyeshadow Quartet Desert Rose is good option for someone who is beginner and does not want many colors but simple option to start a cohesive look. I love it a lot and I use it for my office makeup. this is nothing over the top that you can not wear it to office. I sometimes use only dark bronze shade as my liner and it stays put. It does not fallout throughout the day.
Now something I do not like is the increased price. There are many cheaper options available these days. Also it is high time they get rid of that sponge tip applicator. But on the brighter side you can bag it at discount quite often. also if you are someone for whom matte shadows are must in a palette then this is not for you. For more colourful option check out Tanjore Rush quad from the same range.
