Lakme 9 to 5 Matte Lipstick Scarlet Drill : Review & Swatches

Okayyy!!! I know what you are think after reading the title, “Lakme 9 to 5 Matte Lipsticks have been around for quite a while and thousand of people have already reviewed them(I mean all the shades) then why is this girl doing it now?“…well I am just gonna say “Ladies!!! there are never enough swatches you can go through before buying a lipstick AND there are few products you’ve got to review because you love them so much 😉” So here I am sharing a gem from my vanity Lakme 9 to 5 Matte Lipstick Scarlet Drill which was introduced(Forced to use) by my darling friend Purva Vats from Planetbeauties.

Since you might have already gone through several reviews of Lakme 9 to 5 Matte Lipsticks, I’m gonna stick to sweet and short review(rave).

My Experience with Lakme 9 to 5 Matte Lipstick Scarlet Drill:

Lakme 9 to 5 Matte Lipstick Scarlet Drill comes in a beautiful rose gold bullet packaging with shade name written at the bottom, it looks elite.  This is not a colour coded packaging so if you own many lipsticks from the range then you have to read shade names 🙂

Shade & Pigmentation:

Some shades from Lakme 9 to 5 Matte Lipstick range have micro shimmers along with matte formula and other are without any shimmer. Lakme 9 to 5 Matte Lipstick Scarlet Drill is pure matte without any shimmer in it. It is a beautiful rusty red with a hint of pink in it (Lakme is infamous for mismatching names so do not imagine this to be scarlet red).
The pigmentation is superb, one swipe is enough to deposit the color on your lips. You can build up the color as well.

Finish:

Lakme 9 to 5 Matte Lipsticks are not pure matte or creamy matte but powdery mattes which are not drying but not moisturizing as well. For dry lips people I would say moisturize your lips before application.

It glides easily on lips and looks a bit creamy just after application then slowly sets to matte finish. If you want perfect matte finish, just blot it with tissue paper and you are good to go.

Staying Power:

As soon as you apply Lakme 9 to 5 Matte Lipstick Scarlet Drill, it looks a bit creamy and hence prone to tranfer easily. I apply 3 layers like: 1 layer, blot with tissue, Repeat 2 times more. This way it transfers lesser and stays much better. Also this way the first layer becomes like stain to your lips.

These survive small meals and full meals also(The way I apply it) unless you eat oily food. After oily food also slight stain is still there and you can survive without immediate touch up 🙂

Swatches:

Final Verdict: 5/5

This might sound biased but you got to try this shade. This is so gorgeous and tricky mix of shades that it will suit all skin tones(I have tried and tested). I do not have pigmented lips but the shade might look teeny meeny darker on pigmented lips. This is not super drying and stays put almost 9 to 5. This is just pure love, period.

I have used up more than half of it as you can see in the pictures and yes I’m gonna finish it and repurchase it forever. Love you Purva for forcing this on me :*
