Festivals are all about gratitude and sharing warmth with your loved ones. Back during our childhood, we would spend the entire week before Christmas decorating and planning!
It feels like nothing has changed since our childhood, Christmas is still the most endearing festival for us during the year.
As far as I can remember, there was always hope inside us. As kids to catch a glimpse of the one and only ‘Santa Claus’. Our parents would tell us that Santa Claus exists and that we must sleep like good children. As a result, Santa will reward us with presents. And from there on we started to believe in miracles, but little did we know that our parents were our little miracles…
The Christmas Day
Personally, any occasion for me is incomplete without my family being a part of it. This year, nothing was grand due to the covid pandemic yet we found a way to feel Christmas warmth.
The first half of the day was spent doing my favorite task, decorating the house with lights. I’ve been fond of the festival lights since I was 5 years old. Back in India, during the Diwali festival, we would decorate the house with lights and I would chase my dad around to help him. At night, I would keep starring at those colorful lights and would get lost dreaming about my life ahead!
Well, coming back to the present, we got ready and cooked our meals so that for the rest of the day we wouldn’t have to work. Smart, right? And, we chose and watched a movie that was like by all (P.S – That was difficult).
The best part is yet to come.
After the movie was over, we generally started talking about our childhood. There were stories that I had never known and instances that I certainly did not remember, but just listening to those stories made me enter my childhood once again. For a brief moment, I felt like I was reliving my precious memories.
I couldn’t help but think of all the great moments that we as a family have spent like this over the years. Sharing those memories turns into another precious moment. Certain memories are cherished for life, maybe for me, this Christmas will be one of them!
What Was My Miracle?
Sooner or later we all realize that miracles are not always grand. Sometimes, miracles can also be small but heartwarming! This time my miracle was being with my family and eating popcorn while we watched a comedy movie. Maybe my definition of a miracle is not something that happens extraordinarily, it’s just something that I can care about deeply for as long as I live.
I hope you had a warm Christmas like me, I would love to hear your stories.
Comment below and tell me all about them. I’m Waiting!
XoXo
