Hey lip product lovers! Today, I’m diving into the world of ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip. These liquid lipsticks have been around for a while, but with so many shades to choose from, it can be overwhelming to pick just a few.
I recently snagged a set that included five gorgeous colors: Take a Pixie, Needle & Thread, Soufflé, Arabesque, and First Position. Let’s break down each shade and see if they truly live up to the ultra-matte hype!
First Impressions:
The packaging is classic ColourPop – sleek and cute, with the shade name clearly labelled. The applicator is a standard doe-foot, which I find easy to use for precise application. The scent is a sweet vanilla that fades quickly after application.
Formula and Wear:
The formula is what really impressed me. These lipsticks go on super smooth and opaque in just one swipe. They dry down completely matte without feeling drying or uncomfortable on my lips. The wear time is fantastic – I can easily get several hours of wear without any budging or transfer (with minimal eating or drinking, of course).
My Experience with Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip:
I’m in more love and less hate relationship with the ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip! The formula is comfortable, long-lasting, and super pigmented. The shade range is massive, so there’s a perfect color for everyone. Whether you’re looking for a nude for everyday wear or a bold lip for a special occasion, ColourPop has you covered. But exfoliating your lips and keeping them moisturized is a must. since this is ultra matte formula it will accentuate every flaw and patch on your lips.
The Shades & Swatches:
- Take a Pixie: This is a beautiful dusty beige nude, perfect for everyday wear or creating a soft ombre lip.
- Needle & Thread: A warm mid-tone pink that’s incredibly flattering on many skin tones. It’s a great shade for adding a pop of color without going too bold.
- Souffle: This shade is a vibrant sangria with a slight berry undertone. It’s a showstopper for a night out or a special occasion.
- First Position: A true red that’s perfect for a classic bold lip. It’s not overly blue-toned, making it wearable for a wider range of skin tones.
- Arabesque: A deep brown berry that leans more towards brown. It’s perfect for creating a dramatic fall or winter look.
Pros and cons:
Pros:
- Super comfortable and long-lasting wear
- Highly pigmented for opaque coverage in one swipe
- Wide variety of shades to choose from
- Affordable price point
Cons:
- Can be a bit drying for some lip types (try using a lip balm underneath)
- Strong vanilla scent may not be for everyone (fades quickly though)
Final Verdict: 4/5
I highly recommend the ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip! For the price point, you can’t beat the quality and shade selection. Just remember to keep your lips hydrated if you tend to get dryness with matte formulas. However it is not very easy to get hands on colourpop products without paying extra price if you live outside US and canada.
